Can You Bring Nicotine Pouches on a Plane?

Aug 26, 2025 pouch

Between the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules, luggage limits, and international travel regulations, catching a flight can come with a lot of questions. Is my checked bag too heavy? How much liquid am I allowed in my carry-on? What do I take out of my bag when going through security?

While all valid, there’s another question that’s become increasingly common for adult nicotine users who are getting ready for their next trip: Can you take
nicotine pouches on a plane with you?

The good news is that
yes, you can! Whether you're traveling within the US or internationally, most airlines now permit nicotine pouches in your carry-on or checked bag—however in-flight use and if the nicotine pouches are allowed at your destination can be a different story and may require some follow ups before you fly.

Traveling Within the US

The TSA does not place restrictions on smokeless nicotine or tobacco products—so nicotine pouches are generally allowed in both carry-on and checked bags within the United States.

Due to their format, nicotine pouches don’t need to be packed in a special way (i.e. a liquids bag). There’s also no specified limit on the number of cans you can bring with you if they’re for personal use, but keep in mind that carrying excessive amounts could raise suspicion of reselling.*

*It’s a serious legal offense to resell these products, especially in states where they’re banned. Doing so can result in fines, probation, or in serious cases, jail time.
